PLASMA PEN® SKIN TIGHTENING

PLASMA PEN® SKIN TIGHTENING is a groundbreaking technology designed to tighten skin non-surgically. Widely used across Europe for years, plasma technology has now made its way to the United States, bringing with it remarkable cosmetic enhancements. Its popularity in the realms of plastic surgery and cosmetic dermatology is due to its minimally invasive nature and its ability to achieve results comparable to many surgical procedures. Plasma Pen® provides a more youthful, contoured appearance with virtually immediate results that are long-lasting, eliminating the need for fillers or surgical corrections. This innovative technology is setting new standards in skin revitalization, improving tone, and texture

WHY DO WE NEED PLASMA PEN®

Just like the scaffolding of a building, which weakens, rusts, and eventually collapses over time, our skin undergoes a similar deterioration process. As we age, the dermal layer of our skin thins and collagen production slows dramatically. This leads to the appearance of lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. The loss of collagen and elastin, which provides the skin's structure and elasticity, results in a diminished support system, much like a scaffold losing its strength.

The Plasma Pen®, developed by Louise Walsh, offers a revolutionary solution with its natural, non-surgical plasma fibroblasting technology. This state-of-the-art treatment leverages nitrogen plasma technology to dramatically repair, reverse, and mitigate the effects of aging. Combining advanced science, sophisticated techniques, and comprehensive pre- and post-treatment care, Plasma Pen® effectively tightens, lifts, resurfaces, rejuvenates, and regenerates almost any area of the skin, providing stunning, long-lasting results

WHAT ARE FIBROBLASTS?

Fibroblasts are the most prevalent cells in connective tissue and are the sole producers of Type III collagen. Over approximately three months, Type III collagen synthesizes alongside the stronger Type I collagen. Together, Type I and Type III collagen fortify the skin’s dense connective tissues. They are crucial for reducing fine lines, wrinkles, and micro-furrows, while enhancing the skin’s elasticity, suppleness, and hydration.

WHAT IS INVOLVED IN THE HEALING PROCESS?

Neoepithelialization is the formation of new epithelial tissue, becomes visible as tiny carbon crusts that flake off within 3 to 7 days after a Plasma Pen treatment. These crusts act as a natural, protective dressing and will naturally shed as the new, rejuvenated skin (neoepidermis) emerges. The Plasma Pen treatment provides ongoing benefits beyond the initial healing phase. Over the next 12 weeks, it initiates a comprehensive healing response characterized by: Neocollagenesis: New collagen synthesis that enhances skin strength. Neoelastogenesis: Production of elastin, which improves skin elasticity. Collagen-Elastin Cross-Linking: Alignment and linking of collagen and elastin fibers, which strengthens and lifts the skin structure. Reversal of Elastotic Change: Mitigation of premature degeneration of dermal elastic tissue. The treatment also activates M2 Macrophages, white blood cells that help clear cellular debris and reduce inflammation. Basal Keratinocytes are stimulated to migrate to the skin’s surface, aiding in the healing process. Additional benefits include Neovascularization, or the formation of new blood vessels, and the release of growth factors such as cytokines, which are crucial for immune response, cell repair, and growth. These processes collectively support long-term skin stability and help mitigate the effects of aging.

Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about your Plasma Pen® treatment

BEFORE THE TREATMENT

1. What device does RickSkin use for skin tightening?

RichSkin utilizes the Plasma Pen® by Louise Walsh International, the leading plasma application device for addressing wrinkles, aging, skin laxity, tone, and texture. Administered by our licensed, trained, and insured certified plasma technicians, this advanced cosmetic procedure delivers youthful, tighter, and smoother skin with just one treatment. The Plasma Pen® is renowned for its long-lasting results and high patient satisfaction.

2. Am I a good candidate for this treatment? / Will this treatment work for me?

Unlike some alternatives, Plasma Pen® is clinically proven to effectively revitalize skin for both women and men across a range of tones. For full Plasma Pen® treatments, we typically treat light to medium skin tones; Asian and African skin types may not be suitable for full-face treatments. A quick 10-minute free consultation with RichSkin will help determine if you're a good candidate for this treatment. When administered properly and under the supervision of a physician or nurse practitioner, Plasma Pen® treatments can be safely performed for years.

3. Is Plasma Pen® treatment painful?

During the treatment, topical numbing agents are applied to minimize discomfort. Most clients experience only minimal discomfort, often describing the sensation as a mild tingling. However, some areas, particularly the eyelids where the skin is thinnest, may be more sensitive and slightly uncomfortable. Our advanced device and ultra-fine probes enable our providers to work efficiently, reducing potential discomfort. Sensitivity levels can vary based on individual tolerance.

4. When will I see results?

While you may notice dramatic improvements immediately and your treated area might appear healed quite quickly, it typically takes several weeks to a few months to fully see and appreciate the complete results from the first treatment.

5. How many treatment will I need?

For most clients, one treatment is sufficient to achieve the desired results. However, in some cases, a second treatment may be needed to reach optimal outcomes.

6. Do I need to do anything to prepare for the treatment?

Before your treatment, ensure your skin is clean and free of any lotions, creams, perfumes, powder, or makeup. Avoid tanning and remove all jewelry from the treatment area. If there's excessive hair, please shave it beforehand. Additionally, be ready to provide information about your medical history, as your provider will likely inquire about it.

DURING THE TREATMENT

1. How long does a treatment session last?

Each session typically lasts between 45 minutes to a couple of hours, depending on the area(s) being treated.

2. What does the treatment feel like?

You may experience a slight zap, often described as a light shock, during the treatment. Afterward, your face will likely feel warm, similar to the sensation of a sunburn.

3. Will it be painful?

Plasma Pen® skin tightening treatments are generally described as slightly uncomfortable rather than painful. We use topical numbing agents to minimize discomfort, and most clients report only a tingling sensation. Sensitivity may vary, particularly in areas with thinner skin, such as the eyelids. Our advanced device and ultra-fine probes are designed to work efficiently, reducing potential discomfort, though individual sensitivities can vary.

AFTER THE TREATMENT

1. How will my skin feel after my treatment?

After the Plasma Pen® treatment, your skin may feel warm, similar to a mild sunburn, and could remain red for a few hours to a few days, depending on the treatment's intensity. It's important to follow the pre- and post-treatment instructions provided to ensure the best results and recovery.

2. How long will the results last and are they permanent?

After your Plasma Pen® treatment, your results will continue to improve over time. Depending on how your skin responds, a touch-up session may be needed approximately every 6 months to maintain optimal results.

3. Is there any downtime/How long is recovery time?

After your Plasma Pen® treatment, mild swelling, especially around the eyes and periorbital region, is normal and can last from 1 to 5 days. This swelling is usually minor and expected. Post-treatment downtime and recovery from Plasma Pen® are often superior compared to other devices. During the healing process, avoid covering the treated area with plasters, occlusive dressings, or any type of makeup, mascara, or creams until the area has fully healed. Follow the specific aftercare products and instructions provided by RichSkin. The scabs will naturally fall off within 3-7 days. Once healed, use SPF 50 sunscreen for at least 12 weeks and avoid sunbeds and sunbathing to protect your skin and maintain the results.

4. Do I need to do anything after my treatment?

If your skin feels hot after treatment, use a fan to cool it down. Avoid touching or scratching the treated area. Do not apply lotion, makeup, or any other products until the scabs have fallen off. You may apply aloe vera up to three times a day to relieve itching and support the healing process. For the first 2 days post-treatment, avoid rigorous exercise, hot baths, or massages on the treatment area. Keep your skin clean and protected from the sun, avoiding any form of tanning. RichSkin will provide you with a post-care skin regimen; follow the instructions included with the products for optimal results.

5. If I got a treatment on my face, can I put makeup up on right after?

No, you should wait until the area has fully healed before applying any makeup or lotion. Keep the scabs or crusts moist by applying aloe vera up to three times per day. This will help relieve itching and speed up the healing process. The scabs will typically fall off within 3-7 days. Avoid picking or scratching at the area; let the scabs fall off naturally.

6.  Will I experience any complications from the Plasma Pen treatment?

Very few clients experience complications with Plasma Pen®. The device is designed to offer minimal downtime, quick recovery, and excellent results. Any rare issues are typically due to pre-existing medical conditions or failure to follow the aftercare instructions. Problems often arise from not disclosing relevant medical information or from improper aftercare, including the use of incorrect products.
